Who says Halloween has to be all about spooks and scares? Add a touch of whimsical fun to your Halloween décor with this easy and adorable DIY ballerina skeleton craft! Using Dollar Tree’s skeleton garland and some pink tulle, you can create spooky-yet-charming ballerina skeletons that are perfect for hanging around your home or for a Halloween party.
Materials You’ll Need:
- Dollar Tree Skeleton Garland (usually comes with 4 small skeletons in a set)
- Pink Tulle (available by the roll or sheet at craft stores)
- Scissors
- Ribbon or string
How to Make Ballerina Skeletons:
- Prep the Skeletons: These mini skeletons will become your ballerinas, so make sure they are intact and ready for a makeover! We had to glue an arm and a leg bag on! We also gave ours a quick coat of white to brighten them up a bit.
- Cut the Tulle for the Tutus: Cut strips of pink tulle approximately 4-5 inches long. For a fuller tutu, you can layer several strips together.
- Make the Tutu: Gather the cut tulle strips and loop them around the ribbon to form the tutu. You can adjust the size of the tutu based on how puffy you want it.
- Attach the Tutu: Carefully tie the ribbon of tulle to the skeleton’s waist, wrapping it around the back and front so the tutu has volume all around.
- Pose Your Ballerinas: Gently adjust the skeletons’ arms and legs to give them fun, ballet-inspired poses. You can make them appear to be doing twirls, pliés, or holding elegant poses with their arms above their heads.
- Optional: Add Ribbon for Hanging: They come on a brown piece of twine, but If you want a different color, they have a loop at the top of the skulls to change the twine to a ribbon or yarn color of your choice. This makes them perfect for hanging in windows, on Halloween trees, or around your party space.
Where to Display Your Ballerina Skeletons:
- On a Halloween Tree: If you have a decorative Halloween tree, these ballerina skeletons are the perfect whimsical addition.
- In the Window: Hang them in your windows for a cute and spooky decoration that will catch everyone’s eye.
- As Party Décor: These ballerina skeletons are fun décor for a Halloween party, whether you hang them around the room or place them on a mantel or table display.

- Add Glitter: Sprinkle a little glitter on the tutus for extra sparkle!
- Try Different Tulle Colors: You can mix things up by using black, purple, or even orange tulle for a more traditional Halloween vibe.
