Aldi vs. Walmart: Which 2024 Thanksgiving Deal is the Best?

October 23, 2024 Leave a Comment

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and with rising grocery prices, many families are looking for ways to save on their holiday meal. This year, both Walmart and Aldi are offering incredible deals on Thanksgiving dinners that make it easier to host a festive feast without breaking the bank. Let’s break down the deals and see which one offers the best value for families.

Walmart’s “Inflation-Free” Thanksgiving Meal

Walmart is offering an “inflation-free” Thanksgiving meal for eight people for less than $7 per person, totaling just over $50. Their meal includes 29 items, featuring a turkey priced at $0.88 per pound, along with all the essentials for sides and desserts, like green bean casserole and pumpkin pie. This promotion runs until December 24, giving customers plenty of time to snag this deal.

Aldi’s Thanksgiving Dinner Basket

Aldi is stepping up this year with their annual Thanksgiving dinner basket, priced at just $47—the lowest it’s been in five years. This meal feeds 10 people, breaking down to only $4.70 per person. The basket includes all the ingredients needed for a traditional Thanksgiving feast, including a Butterball turkey, gravy, rolls, stuffing, and the ingredients for sides like cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, and pumpkin pie. Aldi’s deal runs until November 27.

Breaking Down the Value

While both deals are impressive, Aldi’s Thanksgiving basket offers the best value if you’re looking to feed a large group. At $4.70 per person, it’s not only more affordable than Walmart’s option, but it also feeds two more people. Plus, Aldi’s package includes the crowd-pleasing classics and doesn’t require any additional coupons, loyalty cards, or purchase requirements to get the low price.

Walmart, however, does offer more flexibility since its deal extends through Christmas, and their turkey price at $0.88 per pound is hard to beat if you prefer to customize your meal.

Our Opinion: Aldi is the Best Deal!

For families looking to save the most and feed the largest group, Aldi’s Thanksgiving dinner basket is the clear winner. The price per person is unbeatable, and the quality of the meal, with a Butterball turkey and all the traditional fixings, is fantastic. Whether you’re hosting a large gathering or just want to make sure there are plenty of leftovers, Aldi’s $47 meal is a great option.

If you’re planning your Thanksgiving dinner on a budget this year, Aldi is the way to go!

What are your thoughts? Which deal would you choose for your Thanksgiving feast?
