Getaway Ghost – DIY Dessert using Ghost Peeps

October 18, 2024 Leave a Comment

Halloween is the perfect time for some spooky fun in the kitchen, and what better way to celebrate than with a deliciously adorable dessert? This “Getaway Ghost” treat features fluffy ghost Peeps nestled in a classic Twinkie, complete with pretzel steering wheels and Reese’s wheels. It’s a fun project for kids and adults alike, and the best part is that it’s super simple to make!

Ingredients

For Each Getaway Ghost

  • 1 Twinkie
  • 1 Ghost Peep
  • 1 chocolate covered pretzel (for the steering wheel)
  • 2 Reese’s Pieces + 1 pretzel stick(for the wheels)

Tools

  • Toothpicks or safe knife (for assembly)
  • A small plate or tray for serving

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Twinkies

Start by placing your Twinkie on a small plate. This will be the body of your getaway ghost. Trim out a section for the Ghosts to sit.

Step 2: Add the Ghost

Unwrap your Ghost Peep and gently press it onto the Twinkie. You can position it upright so that it looks like it’s driving the Twinkie.

Step 3: Create the Steering Wheel

Take 1 chocolate covered pretzel, gently press the steering wheel into the top of the Twinkie, just in front of the Peep, so it looks like the ghost is ready to drive!

Step 4: Add the Wheels

Now it’s time to give your dessert some wheels! Take two Reese’s Pieces and stick them to the sides of a pretzel stick and place under the Twinkie. These will be the wheels of your ghostly getaway vehicle.

Step 5: Serve and Enjoy!

Your Getaway Ghost dessert is now complete! Arrange them on a festive Halloween platter and get ready to share these cute treats with family and friends.

Tips for Success

  • Get creative with additional decorations! You could use icing or candy to add some flair to your Twinkies.
  • Consider making a whole ghostly parade by assembling multiple Getaway Ghosts for a fun Halloween dessert table.
  • Encourage kids to decorate their ghosts however they like, turning this into a fun activity.

These Getaway Ghosts are not only adorable but also delicious, making them a perfect addition to your Halloween festivities. Whether you’re hosting a party, attending a potluck, or just looking for a fun family activity, this DIY dessert is sure to delight. So grab your ingredients, get your ghostly spirit on, and enjoy a sweet treat that’s hauntingly good! Happy Halloween!
